Recurring DIY Headboard Obsession

The bed in our guest bedroom is sans headboard and for months I've been meaning to construct one myself. Out of what material? I'm undecided, but my brain wheels are turning. I noticed Apartment Therapy posted a link about DIY headboards today so I thought I would post for future reference.

I really like the idea of using salvaged doors or shutters.

I love stopping in Old Time Pottery from time to time. Their fabric is $4.99 a yard and lately I've found some ultra cute designs. Recently, I whipped up some pillow covers out of some OTP fabric and not too long ago I found some duck decoy fabric that intrigued me, although I ultimately decided to pass it up.

On the way in, I found this guy just chillin' in the parking lot....a little odd. Maybe this was a sign that I should have purchased the duck decoy fabric after all.

Now...what to make? what to make?

I'm sure it will be more pillows, tablecloths, or curtains since that is all I know how to sew for the time being.

Just returned from a trip out to Colorado to visit my parents for the first time since they moved to Morrison.

Here we are in downtown Golden.

And here is another one overlooking Clear Creek in Golden. We are facing the sun and Chris claims since his eyes are gray, it is impossible to open them to the sun. We tried about 3 or 4 photos and his eyes were closed in ALL of them!

Started editing some photos of Amanda's baby shower which was hosted by her very creatively talented sister Rachel. Unfortunately some of the photos came out a little blurry because I was messing with my camera settings a little too much. Thank you, Jamie, for the pointers!

It was bittersweet spending time at my Grandma's house for the last time.

The house at which I practically spent every Christmas for the last 31 years.

We found some old photos of my Grandparents that I scanned.

It turns out my Grandpa was quite the photographer.

Heaven gained another.

The Bedroom Refresh

We spent the better part of our Saturday re-arranging our bedroom furniture. I tend to move furniture around and in and out of rooms quite often in an attempt to "refresh" the look and decor to keep things exciting. Chris thinks I'm crazy, but I think I'm just your typical girl. After viewing the bedroom in it's current arrangement, I noticed our bed is in desperate need of some new bedding and lo and behold, I currently have a down comforter in need of a duvet cover. Perfect reason for a shopping trip! I've always loved the look of a bed with mixed patterns so I was skimming decor 8 and found this post on layering patterns which is really helpful.

Now let's see if this new-found knowledge plus a little Sunday shopping trip to Target can result in a brand new bedroom!

Sewing Skills and Snow Day Projects!!

I love snow days because I always find myself wanting to tackle a project. I recently bought some fabric on a Sunday trip to Old Time Pottery and decided to make two pillow covers for some couch pillows I was never really in love with. After an easy google search, I came across this tutorial from Angela at Cottage Magpie.

Nothing that some easy google searches, fun fabric, and some sewing skills can't fix!

On a related note, a snow day last year allowed me the time to craft these kitchen curtains out of an old Anthropologie bedskirt that had been hiding away in our spare room closet for years.
