Project Rapunzel Pillow

Yet another pillow project!

I was feeling inspired after discovering some Rapunzel fabric from Sew Fresh Fabric on Etsy and decided to give the 'ole pillow project another try, but this time as a baby gift!

I didn't order very much fabric, only 1/2 yard, so I found some cute giraffe spotted fabric at Jo-ann's to use for the back.

I was feeling a little ambitious so I decided to add a monogrammed pocket using Rapunzel fabric scraps and iron-on lettering.

Operation Rapunzel Pillow Complete!

Bring on the next pillow....

I also have 1/4 yard of this Sleeping Beauty fabric to play with!

Lace and Wall Space

These would also be fun using vintage lace in frames hanging in groups to fill empty space in a dressing room or in my case, my craft/studio/junk/closet room that is still a disorganized mess.

Nursery details...but not my nursery

I finally took some better photos of Amanda and Marty's new baby nursery.

I love the personal touches she added to the room. From the painted branch mural to the various hand-crafted artwork pieces, the room is most definitely a labor of love. Amanda found fun, colorful fabrics and framed them in embroidery hoops and then used the leftover scraps to decorate a letter "E" which will be the first letter of their baby girl's name......there's no telling what it is though.....she and Marty have been mum on that topic for almost 9 months!

Also pictured is a framed piece of art that she could most definitely start mass producing and selling on etsy!

I wish I would have remembered to get a better picture of it, but Marty also recovered a vintage glider (notice it peeking out of the bottom right corner of the photo above?) that belonged to Amanda's Grandmother who used it to rock HER children to sleep! Such a great piece of nostalgia for their little girl one day!

LOVE it!

I've decided that I'm going to compose a couple blog posts on nurseries, since it's a popular topic right now amongst my friends and I have such creative friends' talents to expose to the masses (and the masses meaning the 8 people that actually read this blog, if that:)

Natalie - I'm coming for you next! You need to start mass producing that adorable mobile above Shay's bed. You're nursery is too cute not to blog!

....to be continued

Lace, Lace, Wedding Lace

Minus the bows, why didn't I do this for my wedding cake?!?

Don't get me wrong, I did LOVE my cake topper (see below) and stump cake stand, so maybe this wouldn't have worked anyway (too much?), but I'm crazy about the lace detail.

Blah

I keep seeing this.

It may be considered "in" right now.

I don't like it.

Projects are Brewing!

Recurring DIY Headboard Obsession

The bed in our guest bedroom is sans headboard and for months I've been meaning to construct one myself. Out of what material? I'm undecided, but my brain wheels are turning. I noticed Apartment Therapy posted a link about DIY headboards today so I thought I would post for future reference.

I really like the idea of using salvaged doors or shutters.

Gearing up for 3 hours...did I hear 3 HOURS! of Bachelor finale??
I'm not sure I can take Brad saying "ok" every two seconds for much longer.

I'll be glad when it's over.

Ray LaMontagne - Trouble & Red Velvet

I never get sick of this song

Also....I had a slice of wonderful goodness (see below) tonight and it was delicious! Hopefully the feeling of being so overly stuffed that I might never eat again will go away by tomorrow because I so enjoy food.

I love stopping in Old Time Pottery from time to time. Their fabric is $4.99 a yard and lately I've found some ultra cute designs. Recently, I whipped up some pillow covers out of some OTP fabric and not too long ago I found some duck decoy fabric that intrigued me, although I ultimately decided to pass it up.

On the way in, I found this guy just chillin' in the parking lot....a little odd. Maybe this was a sign that I should have purchased the duck decoy fabric after all.

My loot!

Now...what to make? what to make?

I'm sure it will be more pillows, tablecloths, or curtains since that is all I know how to sew for the time being.

Barmen Pilsner mustache...or non-stache

I still haven't downloaded my Colorado photos, but I talked my brother into posting this video from the Old Capitol Grill to YouTube so I could share.

The Barmen Pilsner wasn't quite cooperating with me.
